Real Parent Life

Let’s face it. Life is already hard enough as it is when you’re a parent, you don’t need the added stress of seeing all the so called “perfect parents” being depicted through every single social media channel you weave your way through. I have been there, I have seen it, and I hate it. I went off of social media for that very reason, I was tired of feeling like I was the only one not taking vacations, the only one not making birthday cakes from scratch, and the only one that was living in chaos all the damn time. When I say chaos, I mean the type of chaos where I vacuum 3 times a day and it still isn’t enough to make it look like you have your shit together. So I created some reality checks for all you real life parents out there that don’t feel good enough to show what you have on social media.

5 Reality checks for real mom’s(or even dad’s)

Reality Check 1: If you are lucky enough to brush your hair, congratulations. If not, who gives a shit. seriously. Call it a day.

Reality Check 2: If you are lucky enough to clean your house when your find out your mother-in-law is coming over to visit at the last minute, great. If not, light a candle, and kick a bunch of stuff into the closet and call it a day.

Reality Check 3: Kids can’t tell the difference between homemade mac and cheese and the box of fake cheese crap. So if you don’t have time to find your inner betty crocker, whip out that box, stir that orange crap in, and decorate it up all fancy with ketchup. And call it a day.

Reality Check 4: Kids don’t need a bath every day. They don’t. Unless they are unforgivably nasty. So here is a little trick. Grab some wipes. And give them a wipe bath. It takes under 2 mins. Your welcome. Call it a day

Reality Check 5: This one is for you. And you only. Put your phone down. Seriously. Do it now. Be present. Don’t let those lil gents and ladies look up at you and find our face buried in your phone all day long. Be present. They grow up so fast, and you don’t want to miss all that chaos they cause that make you feel like the loser in the mom of the year contest. Because the reality is, you are their winner. They see you as the mom of the year, every damn day of their lives. You are their protector, their constant, their provider of food, love and warmth. They don’t care about anything else. They don’t care if the house is messy, if your hair is un-brushed, if you’re giving them boxed mac and cheese, and whether they get a wipe bath over a real one. What they care about is that you are present, and that you care about them. Thats it. So put your phone down , and call it day.

You are their star. It isn’t necessary to be anyone else’s in this lifetime. Stop comparing yourself. You’re enough.
